LBR1023 Students

We are looking for UK students aged 18yrs and above to take part in some very important research.

We are asking people to take part in discussion groups to talk about what students need in order to have an acceptable standard of living. In 2024/25, we did some research looking at what undergraduates living in student accommodation need to participate in university life, and the associated costs. Given the growing number of students who travel to their place of study each day, rather than relocate, we are setting up a new study, specifically focused on the needs of students who commute to university. We want to talk to people who are living this situation as they are best placed to tell us about this.

This research is being undertaken in partnership with the Higher Education Policy Institute. Participating in this study will enable you to make a direct contribution to understanding what commuter students need. It will help to produce evidence that will be publicly available and will be used to inform discussion around policies affecting student and university practices.

We are holding Online and Face-to-face focus groups for UK students at different universities around the UK.

Online groups will take place on the following dates:
Wednesday 28th October 2.30pm - 5.30pm
Wednesday 11th November 2.30pm - 5.30pm
Thursday 26th November 4.00pm - 7.00pm
Wednesday 2nd December 2.30pm - 5.30pm

In-person groups will take place on the following dates:
Wednesday 18th November 2.30pm - 5.30pm in Birmingham, (B15)

London 24th November 4.00pm - 7.00pm in London

If you take part in online groups, you will be given a £60 Amazon Voucher, while those who take part in the in-person group will be given £80 Amazon voucher as a thank you for your time and input. Vouchers will be issued at the venue (in-person groups) or emailed (for online groups) after fully taking part in the 3-hour focus group.

If you know a student at university who would like to be part of this research, please forward them this screener and ask them to fill it in. We're paying a £20 referral fee to our members who refers anyone and they are selected and take part. You will only get paid £20 for any NON-Saros members you refer. You can refer as many people as you like! Terms & Conditions apply.

In order to assess your suitability for this project, we need to ask you some questions. We are looking for a range of responses, so please answer these questions as carefully and as accurately as you possibly can. The answers given will be used as the basis for deciding on your suitability for this project.

Please note: you should only apply if you are definitely able commit the time to participate in this project, if you are chosen it means others will be rejected... To have people cancel or no show is costly to all parties involved, and may result in you no longer receiving invitations to participate.
