The Scottish Government is consulting on proposals to introduce statutory price controls on selected essential food items, with the aim of improving food affordability.
Under the proposal, qualifying large supermarket chains would be required to offer at least one qualifying version of each specified food product at or below a maximum price. Scottish Chambers of Commerce is seeking members’ views on the potential benefits and risks of the proposal, how businesses and supply chains could be affected, and what alternative measures could improve food affordability.
The findings will inform SCC’s response to the Scottish Government consultation and its wider engagement with policymakers.
Responses will be analysed collectively, and no personal or business-identifying information is required.
