We are recruiting for a real-world study on the topic of irritable bowel disease (IBD) and are inviting UK and US-based Gastroenterologists to apply.

The core focus of real-world studies is to measure and better understand healthcare data collected under real-life practice circumstances through the perspective of both healthcare professionals and patients.

What your participation would involve:

  • Firstly, please complete this 5-minute online screener form for us to determine your eligibility to participate. If you qualify, a member of our team will be in touch with further information via email or telephone.

  • Your first task will be to complete a 45-minute online survey which can be accessed via our online portal capturing your attitudes and experiences of managing IBD.

  • Online Patient Record Forms (lasting 25 minutes each) to be completed for your next 12 IBD patients, comprising:
    • 6 Crohn’s disease patients
    • 6 Ulcerative colitis patients (these UC patients must fit the criteria of ever having a moderate or severe disease severity, OR be currently/ever receiving a corticosteroid, immunomodulator, biologic, JAK inhibitor or S1P receptor modulator OR ever had a MAYO score of >5)
    • Patients must be 18 years old or older and not be currently involved in a clinical trial.
    • After completing those 12 Patient Record Forms, we may ask you to complete additional voluntary forms should you wish to do these depending on your workload. There is no obligation for you to complete additional Patient Record Forms. You are welcome to complete as few or as many additional Patient Record Forms as you choose, up to the maximum permitted.

  • Paper copies of Patient Self-Completion Questionnaires
    • All patients for whom you complete a Patient Record Form should be invited to complete this questionnaire
    • DO NOT PROVIDE A PATIENT SELF-COMPLETION QUESTIONNAIRE TO PATIENTS FOR WHOM YOU ARE NOT COMPLETING A PATIENT RECORD FORM
    • Patient participation is voluntary, and you should not assist them when completing the questionnaires If you are unable to get your patients to complete a PSC, you are still able to fill out online charts and take part in the study.
    • Questionnaires should be completed anonymously and placed in a sealed envelope.
    • It is important that we obtain as many corresponding patient-self completion questionnaires and patient record forms as possible. We will provide printed forms for your patients to fill in. Most participants have their staff provide the patients with a brief questionnaire to fill out while in the waiting room at their next appointment.

Upon completion of this survey, you will be compensated for your time. Compensation will be in line with fair market value for your location.

Every possible step is taken to ensure confidentiality; however, there is always a minimal risk remaining that confidentiality may be lost. Whilst you personally are unlikely to benefit directly from participating in the survey, your participation will lead to general knowledge about treating the condition / disease area.

Your participation is voluntary, and your alternative is not to participate. If you choose not to participate or leave the survey after agreeing to participate, there will be no penalty or loss of benefits to which you are otherwise entitled (based on your input into the survey at the point that you leave).

This research is being overseen by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) and your information may be shared with this Board.
