The NI elections survey

Introduction

Mencap NI wants to find out more from people with learning disabilities about voting in elections.

We want to know more from people who have voted before and people who did not vote.
We want to hear if there were any barriers that had stopped you from voting.

We will use the information collected to help more people with learning disabilities to vote in next year's elections happening in May 2027.
We will share the information from this survey with the Electoral Commission. Their job is to make sure elections run properly.

We think it is a good time to work with people with learning disabilities to ensure their voice is heard in elections.

The information you provide will help Mencap to make a difference for other people with a learning disability who want to vote.

•    Please complete this short survey by answering all the questions, before midnight on Monday 17 August.

•    You can ask your family or carer to help you fill out this survey.

You do not have to write your name on the survey.
Your answers will be kept private.
No one who reads the results will know who you are.

In this survey you will see a star. This means that you have to answer that question.
Next year there will be two elections happening on the same day:
  • The Assembly election for the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in Stormont
  • The local Council elections
