Project Introduction
Ricardo, together with independent experts from Türkiye, has been commissioned by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to undertake the study “Turkiye Regulatory Setup, Market Mechanisms Capacity Building for Maritime Decarbonisation.” This initiative aims to support the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (MoTI) of the Republic of Türkiye in accelerating the decarbonisation of its maritime sector. The project will contribute to the development of strategic, regulatory, and technical pathways for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from maritime transport, aligned with international commitments and national priorities.
As part of this effort, this survey has been developed to collect insights that are critical for various aspects of the project. Specifically, the survey seeks to understand:
- Awareness within relevant Turkish organisations of current and upcoming maritime regulations;
- Familiarity with available low- and zero-emission technologies and operational strategies;
- Organisational preparedness and capacity to transition to low-carbon maritime operations;
- Financial readiness and perceived investment needs.
The survey is designed to assess the overall level of awareness, preparedness, and capacity among maritime stakeholders in Türkiye with respect to maritime decarbonisation. The insights gathered will directly inform the development of tailored training modules and capacity-building activities as part of the EBRD–MoTI initiative.
Confidentiality and Use of Data
All responses to this survey will be analysed solely by the project team and used exclusively for the purposes of this study. Survey data, along with any subsequent interview notes or written contributions, will be shared with EBRD and MoTI but will not be published. We may refer to anonymised information in the final project report unless explicit confidentiality requirements are identified (In question 4, the respondent can indicate whether their organisation is mentioned or if the response is anonymised). If needed, Ricardo and its partners are happy to discuss and agree on specific confidentiality arrangements. Please refer to our Privacy Statement in the next page for further details.
