Tormsdale Wind Farm - Community Benefit Fund Questionnaire
Wind farm developer, Arise, has submitted a planning application for a new onshore wind farm with 9 turbines, 8.5km south of Halkirk, which will have a total capacity of 37.8-45MW and a 20-25MW battery storage facility.

Should the proposed
Tormsdale Wind Farm development be approved, this would provide the communities within the old Caithness county council border access to a Community Benefit Fund, which would equate to between £189-225k per annum (index linked) over a 30-year period, based on the Scottish Government’s Good Practice Principles for Community Benefits from Onshore Renewable Energy Developments.
Following previous consultation work, Arise has decided that this fund will be managed by a dedicated board set up by the Caithness Chamber of Commerce, composed of local representatives. The Chamber has been identified as a partner as they have a track record of managing funds and responding to the types of local priorities raised during previous consultations, for example energy efficiency and broadband enhancements.
As Tormsdale Wind Farm reaches an advanced stage in the planning process, Arise is seeking further views of residents and businesses within the communities to priorities and challenges that the Community Benefit Fund might help support or address and to gauge whether there is interest in shared ownership.’
