Urgent: school building safety survey

UNISON's urgent school building survey

This week, the Department for Education has told between 100-150 schools in England to immediately shut buildings made with aerated concrete (RAAC) until safety work is undertaken, with school leaders being asked to make emergency plans for buildings at risk of collapse just a week before the start of the Autumn term.

UNISON has lobbying the government to take action on school building safety and to publish information about at-risk properties, so we are relieved that the issue is finally being taken seriously - but it is scandalous that the government has squandered valuable months hiding this crisis when they should have been fixing dangerous school buildings.

To help us support members who work in or whose children attend schools where buildings have been found to be unsafe, and to campaign for urgent action to address this crisis, this survey will ask if your school has been affected by this scandal.

This survey is for staff working in schools and/ or parents and guardians of school-age children. The data collected in this survey will remain anonymous unless you have given explicit permission to use your story.

The survey should take around 3-5 minutes to complete.
