Taxi Licensing Policy consultation

The Government published its Statutory Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle Standards document last year. Licensing Authorities must have regard to the standards document when setting and revising their policies and procedures and the Government have indicated that Authorities are expected to implement the new standards unless there are compelling local reasons not to. Wyre Council has reviewed its current policy against the new standards and is now consulting with stakeholders on a revised policy that incorporates many of the recommendations.

The consultation is open until 2 May 2021.

All comments received by the 2 May will be considered by the Licensing Committee when they are due to meet to finalise the policy on 29 June 2021.

PLEASE NOTE:
Wyre Council must have regard to the contents of the latest Statutory Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle Standards under section 177(4) of the Policing and Crime Act 2017. Wyre’s current policy and practices have been benchmarked against the new requirements, and these are highlighted throughout the draft policy and appendices in yellow.

The draft policy also contains some additional revisions, highlighted in blue, that are not specifically required by the new statutory standards, but which address some local matters that have arisen following the adoption of the current policy in 2018.
