Online Politics Masterclass Application Form

Online Masterclasses are subject based and are two hours long. They consist of a topic based lecture and interactive activity, led by a SOAS academic. There are also workshops and a Q&A session with Student Ambassadors. 
  • "What Makes a Revolution"? 
    This masterclass will examine the origins, main players, and fortunes of the Egyptian revolution of January 2011, placing it in the context of regional and international political developments.
  • Participants will engage in group work using first-hand testimonies to explore the conditions that enable - or limit - the process of revolution.
  • Participants will develop their critical thinking, public speaking and analytical skills.

In order to be considered for a place you will need to complete the whole form, including agreeing to our data protection statement. Please make sure you have all the information required for the form, and a parent and carer nearby to complete the form as this form includes:

Permission to hold and use personal data:
By submitting an application, you agree to the information provided in this form being held and used by SOAS to evaluate widening participation activities. Your information will also be made available to members of staff at SOAS who need to see and use it, and the Office for Fair Access (OFFA)/ Office for Students (OfS) for this purpose on the understanding that no information will be published that could identify you. Your information will be held securely on SOAS’ servers which are based in the UK, and will be kept for five years.

By submitting this form you also agree to us contacting the supporting teacher and parent/ guardian named on this form to confirm they give permission for you to attend. 

Your information will be held securely for the duration of the survey on Alchemer’s servers which are based in Germany, and after the survey is complete the information will be deleted from Alchemer and transferred to SOAS’ servers which are based in the UK, and will be kept for five years.

HEAT (Higher Education Access Tracker)
We use a Higher Education Access Tracker to find out where students that we work with progress to.  This helps us to review the impact of our activities.  We do not report on students individually.
