This document is related to the processing of your personal data in the study you just read about. The project manager(s) will take all necessary measures to protect the confidentiality and security of your data, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR - EU 2016/679) and the Law of 30 July 2018 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data.
The Data Controller is the promoter of the study, namely the University of Liège, whose headquarters is located at Place du 20-Août, 7, B- 4000 Liège, Belgium. The internal investigators are the investigators whose names appear at the bottom of this document. The investigators have a duty of confidentiality regarding the data collected.
Usage and storage of your data
While the collection, use and storage of your data are done for the purpose of conducting the study to which you are currently participating, these data might also be used for other future research projects in the field of medical and cognitive neuroscience. This includes data you provide in the online survey.
Confidentiality of your data
To the best of our knowledge, the data we release will not contain information that can directly identify you using reasonable means. To protect your privacy, the data will be collected and processed anonymously. No personal information that can directly identify you will be collected. Data will not be traced back to you. If you are recruited through Profilic, your Profilic ID (consisting of 24 characters) will be omitted from database after matching your data with the survey data. The information will remain safely stored in the local research institute. The data cannot be traced back to you in reports and publications about the study.
Access to your data for verification
If you are recruited to our online survey through Profilic, your Profilic ID will be omitted after matching your demographics with your survey data. In case we need to verify anything during this process, we might contact you anonymously through Profilic platform.
Persons who have access to your survey data for review are: the local committee that monitors the safety of the study, the data controller working for the primary investigator of the study, and local, national and international supervisory authorities. They will keep your data confidential.
Passing on to countries outside the European Union (EU)
Your anonymous data can also be accessed by and sent to countries outside the EU. This is necessary so that non-EU based scientists can run analyses to verify the scientific results produced from this study or for future unrelated research in the field of medical and cognitive neuroscience. In those countries, the EU rules on the protection of your personal data do not apply. However, we won’t be collecting any personal data from you and your privacy will be protected.

Questions about the processing of your personal data can be directed to investigators whose names appear at the bottom of this document or the Data Protection Officer by e-mail (dpo@uliege.be).
By filling out this survey, you declare that you have read and understood this document on the protection of personal information. You understand the nature and purpose of your participation in the project and have the opportunity to ask questions. To the present, you freely accept to participate in the study.
We declare to be responsible for the conduct of the present research project. We undertake to respect the obligations set out in this document.
